While 3G spectrum bidding concludes, newbies enter the market.

Hey all!!  whaddup!!!
Yesterday i got a message on my cell phone about the news that Reliance Communication paid $1.8bln as 3G fees and i was kind of intrigued it. so started searching, and i got that the bidding for 3G India was started on 9th of April. All the telecom giants of the country are participating in this bidding. Now the auction has ended, no single bidder has bid for a Pan-India 3G License
The nine successful bidders for 3G spectrum paid Rs.67,719 crore in total to the government with Bharti Airtel paying the highest amount of Rs 12,295.46 crore for 13 circles, followed by Vodafone with Rs 11,617.86 crore.
BSNL paid Rs.10,186.56 crore while MTNL has paid Rs.6,564 crore. Tata Teleservices (TTSL) is paying Rs.5864.29cr, while Reliance Communications has paid 85.85 billion rupees ($1.8 billion) as 3G spectrum fees to the department of telecommunications, as of 31st of May. Idea is paying Rs.5768.59cr and Aircel is paying Rs.6500cr. for their share in the spectrum.

Reliance won the right to provide 3G mobile services in 13 telecoms zones earlier this month in an auction that lasted 34 days and will generate $14.6 billion for the government, nearly twice what it had expected.

All the successful bidders will be able to offer 3G services from September commercially.

With new entries like Videocon, Virgin(in the GSM class), MTS, Uninor, and so on  in the telecom business, the biggies need to keep hold of their position in the industry, which ensures by having a good hold of the 3G spectrum.

Looking forward to the coming year, with biggies fighting in the 3G spectrum with the advent of newbies...
